When you have the house and the home all you need is the perfect interior home decor. That’s why this apartment went under reconstruction. It lacked heart. The interior designer Juliette Arent from Arent & Pyke says “It was very commercial. The ceiling was covered in downlights and there was dark carpet down. The owners of this apartment in Pyrmont with views for the Harbour Bridge, had a feeling their interior decor was lacking something. That’s why their home interior design went under an 18-month reconstruction.

The dark carpet was replaced with wall-to-wall carpet in a bold abstract pattern which formed the basis of the palette in the living area.

The downlights were discarded in favor of central pendant lights and free standing lamps. Ambient and mood lighting were the chosen ones because the effect they have in our mood.

The living room was the only structural change. Including timber and marble window seat that runs the full length of the living room.

The home design interior furniture was inspired by the way of living of the young couple. A reflection of their life choices went into consideration when buying the furniture to the house.

“The sofa came in three pieces and the dining table seats 10 but it is actually two tables joined together,” she says. “One of the joinery pieces was the maximum length you could get in the lift.”
