FOR YOUR INTEREST IN MODERN FLOOR LAMPS
Today we are going to present you one of the most iconic hotels in Palm Springs that feature a nostalgic vibe, lots of colors and unique mid-century lighting designs. If you are a mid-century lover then this hotel is everything you could ever dream of, since it was once the getaway of Hollywood stars such as Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe.
The Riviera was a project by architect Irwin Shuman, who thought the resort in order to mirror the luxurious hotels of Las Vegas, in the decade of the 1950s. However, this glamorous hotel was nestled in Palm Springs and was, for many years the getaway for stars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Marilyn Monroe, you name it… Now it’s been completely refurbished and the result is a continuously glamorous place, filled with stunning mid-century furniture pieces.
The new Riviera Hotel should reflect the style of contemporary Palm Springs — a playful mix of eclectic and bohemian design, at the same time it’d make us feel nostalgic with its vibrant colors and midcentury furniture. And the designers who ultimately achieved that were the Miami-based Rose Ink Workshop.
In the Landing Lobby Bar, visitors are immediately enveloped in a refreshing rush of green, which mirrors the oasis vibe The Riviera is trying to achieve, with lush palm leaf pillows and mint walls. A touch of retro style appears in zig-zag carpets and mod chandeliers.
“The previous design was a glam, Vegas-y throwback to the Rat Pack years,” says creative director Liubasha Rose. “It was too much sensory overload and not relaxed or relaxing enough. We needed to create an atmosphere that fits in Palm Springs.”
Leaning on the aesthetic vibe of Slim Aarons’ photographs, the new design is mid-century, vibrant, playful and whimsical,” says Rose.
In the lounge area – the dark and moody Gypsy Rose lounge – guests will find a very seductive and stunning ambience, with pink velvet armchairs, classic Thonet café chairs and crystal sconces, custom-made by Stone & Rose.
The customized lobby areas are all different, but maintain a very glamorous and classy feeling throughout all of them, with the concept of comfort being always present.
The sixties and seventies. Scofield is a very technical and functional lamp. The diffusers rotate allowing different light focuses. Its structure is handmade in brass and the lampshades in aluminum.
The outdoor area features an immense pool, the original space where all those stars used to swim and enjoy their time out. Below you can also see a game area, perfect for an after dinner game of pool.
