MILAN DESIGN WEEK: REVIEW: THE CHARMING EFFECT OF EVANS MID-CENTURY DESIGN
A new and brand life is coming to design and theatre department. A comeback we’ve been waiting for so long, this is the year where Milan Design Week is filled with drama, competition, music and performance. Brought by Lasvit, the lighting brand will be showcasing an exhibition called “Monster Cabaret” that promises to be filled with peculiar and amazing creations. Another installation you can’t miss, “Bar Anne”. The historical Museo Diocesano was transformed by a group of Dutch designers and in their words “a bar and show combined into one full experience and fun happening”.
That retro vintage nostalgia is back on track in Milan Design Week 2018. With a look back to their previous works, this year, designers made sure that the retro vintage style is on point and taking centre stage. What to look for: the new collection from the London brand Sé that is to be unveiled by the one and only, Rossana Orlandi. Glamour and quality of the 20th-century furniture are the keywords.
New uses of recycled plastic are one of the upcoming trends of the design week 2018. As the world is getting progressively more concerned with the environment, the design world has taken the matter into its own hands and several designers came up with an array of innovative solutions. Stay tuned, we’re sure you’re going to see a lot of it!
Plant Power has come to stay. An exhibition, which will focus on sustainable paints and finishes, is being put together under the artistic direction of architectural firm Meregalli Merlo Architetti Associati in the rooftop of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. The exhibition will be a range of “plant-based coatings that are created from renewable materials, along with clean chrome plating and other environmentally friendly coatings.”
In the Milan design district of Brera, the British designer Lee Broom will present a range of outer space inspired lighting designs. A minimalist exhibition called Observatory is inside a Grade II-listed building in Brera.
