THANK YOU !
FOR YOUR INTEREST IN MODERN FLOOR LAMPS
How many times have you seen houses in ruins that could be transformed into a lovely family home? Well, the Asdfg Architekten, from Hamburg saw an old Miller’s house from the 19th century and didn’t miss the opportunity to transform it into a nice place to live in. Of course, all of this was only successfully done with a little help from some of the most stunning contemporary lighting designs.
In one of the most charismatic neighborhoods in Berlin, Prenzlauerberg, the Asdfg Architekten, from Hamburg, found a former Miller’s house from the 19th century that has already been used as a police station and workshop but, at the time, was abandoned. Its owner wanted to make a home out of it and contacted the young team of architects that had, that way, their first project in hands.
A very trendy usage of lighting solutions are the simple and naked light bulbs. You can find decorative light bulbs in pretty much any store near you and they’ll look amazing in any Scandinavian interior.
To a common mortal, the idea of the owner to convert the house into a home for a family with three children seems an impossible mission. But the final result proves exactly the opposite.
The inside walls kept the brick exposed and the design of the façade was kept loyal to its original.
In order to gain some space, they only kept the outside brick walls and one massive wall in the middle to support the stairs. All the other rooms are around this wall and on the first floor. A special emphasis should be made on the beautiful blown glass lighting design that hangs above the main stairs.
Around the house, you can find some interesting details. For example, the master bedroom and the studio are separated by a sliding door and the children beds are on an elevated platform and the stairs to access it also work as storage.
On the ground floor you can find the living room and the kitchen, and on the second floor, you can find the bedrooms and the studio. However, it’s in this open space near the kitchen where you can find a stunning mid-century modern floor lamp! How great does it look next to that classic Eames lounge chair?
